Over the past year, we have been working behind the scenes to re-invent the Attack Academy: a re-focused brand, an all-new logo, a refreshed website, a deeper roster of pro players, more content and a brand new app, just to name a few. It’s been a rewarding journey, and we want to share it with you.
In a world that seems to be changing by the day, some things remain the same no matter the year:
“Make sure you get your extra reps in outside of practice.”
“Keep your stick in your hand between now and the next time we see each other.”
As players, whether in grade school or college, we’ve all heard these messages at one time or another, tried and true mantras belabored across athletics. The thing is – there’s a reason coaches repeat them over and over. Like when our parents told us to eat our veggies, we’ve heard of all our lives and it turns out that *gulp*…they were right.
Growing up, our pros heard these messages on repeat just like today’s youth players. But they all kept coming back to one key problem: they were told to keep working on their own, but never given a template for how to improve on their own while growing up playing lacrosse. It was a set of drills here, maybe an old game tape on VHS or DVD there–they all wanted to get better, but had no roadmap to help them focus on the right things and expedite their improvement.
But it’s not just at home, teams rarely have the time to put players through high level individual skill development at team practices. Rightfully so, as they spend most practice time learning systems, or ingraining fundamentals – not spent trying to perfect a split dodge or sting corners from every angle.
So in addition to team play, players still need individualized skill development to play at the next level. In sports like basketball and football, we see specialized skill coaches readily available for players during practice and off the field to assist with this high-end skill development. Even if not done during practice time, giving players the tools to refine their skills allows them to take their game to the next level, while also raising the level of play for the team as a whole. It opens up a new world of potential.
At the Attack Academy, as we examined our offering more closely within the current coaching landscape, our role as a resource for coaches and club communities became abundantly clear. We are that specialized skill coach, except instead of just one coach, we provide players a roadmap to improve from four of the best players in the world. We help individual players take their game to the next level outside of practice, so that they come back to help the team more than ever. With this realization, The Attack Academy Club Partnership was born.
Our Club Partnership allows coaches to feel confident they are providing the best instruction possible outside of practice. Every player within a partner club gets an annual membership to the Attack Academy app, which includes weekly training videos, workouts in the weight room, master classes on demand and 1v1 feedback from your favorite pro. Now, coaches can focus on the X’s and O’s, and the Attack Academy Pro’s will bring the edge in training–four of the world’s most elite players are your coaching supports.
James Chakey, Club Director of Carolina National says that “the most important part of the club partnership is the Attack Academy pro’s ability to break down the importance of doing the little things over and over again as a lacrosse player–not to mention the best in the game are providing their own personal feedback to our players!”
On top of all of the coaching, our club partners receive exclusive deals from our sponsors, an Attack Academy Club Partner Badge, marketing exposure on our blog and social channels. Club partner coaches receive usage reports as well as ongoing education on the changing nuances of our sport.
We’ve now partnered with five amazing club organizations, which you can see on our club partner page. We will continue to expand throughout North America to give coaches the support and players the time to develop to the best they can be.
